Really, I never thought that Community was an actual, accurate portrayal of community college.

But then on my first day of classes at community college, I was told to dumb down the world debilitating in my psych class, had to sit on top of my desk in one of my art classes because the chairs in half the classroom had somehow mysteriously disappeared between classes, and I watched a person dressed in a clown costume and a person dressed in an over the top doctor costume walk down the hall, side-by-side, like it was an every day occurrence, only to be pursued several moments later by a lone elderly security guard.

Some of it is so painfully accurate.

I just wanna thank Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Donald Glover, Jim Rash, Chevy Chase, Ken Jeong, John Oliver, Johnathan Banks and Dan Harmon for creating one of my favorite comedy shows in recent memory.

if i were a teacher at Greendale

my class would be called “Gilligan: Lovable Buffoon or Too Dangerous and Stupid (to be allowed) to Live?”

  • on the first day of class we would split into two groups: lovable buffoon (class) or TSTL (me)
  • each period, a student would show an episode of Gilligan’s Island and defend the position that Gilligan was just a lovable buffoon
  • I would refute the argument
  • as the students came over to my side through failure to prove, they would join me in the refutation of the presentations
  • midterm would be acting out an episode (the first person to successfully “murder” Gilligan would win bonus points)
  • by the end of it students would be making powerpoints trying to establish conspiracy theories and detailing the sheer implausibility of Ginger’s wardrobe for a “three-hour tour,” breaking down each lie told in the theme song, and muttering about how the island is purgatory, they’re all dead, and Gilligan is Mephistopheles
  • the final would be a 5,000 word “ideal” ending to the show involving a decision by the rest of the cast that Gilligan had to die
  • "imagine, if early on," I would lecture, "the other castaways decided that Gilligan was hindering them and had to be stopped? he could survive as a ghost, haunting and lending his name to the island - and all his ‘hilarious’ pratfalls wouldn’t impact their attempts to leave the island. if only."

how about we do the ships thing?

put a fandom in my ask and i’ll answer:

  • otp
  • favourite canon pairing
  • worst pairing ever
  • guilty pleasure pairing
  • a pairing you want to see more
  • that pairing everyone likes but you’re like “lol no”
